Add Fevicon On Blog

Simply upload the file, favicon.ico to the blog or other free uploading websites and get the Link. Make sure your favicon file is named “favicon.ico.” When someone bookmarks your site with a browser that supports favicons, your favicon will appear. Alternatively, you can use this code between the <head></head> (x)HTML tags:
<link rel=”shortcut icon” href=”http://www.thenameofyoursitehere.com/favicon.ico” mce_href=”http://www.thenameofyoursitehere.com/favicon.ico”/>

Some browsers will look for a direct link in the HTML source code to your site's favicon.ico file. You can help these browsers by adding this link in the head section of each page on which you want the Favicon.ico to appear.
Here is the link code to include: <link rel="Shortcut Icon" href="/favicon.ico">
Once you've added this code, upload all of your modified pages.

(Some people suggest that the following is actually more correct: <link rel="icon" href="/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon"> You can use both if you want!)

If you want to use a GIF or PNG instead, use this format instead (just remember that it won’t work in IE):

<link rel="icon" href="/favicon.png" type="image/png"> or
<link rel="icon" href="/favicon.gif" type="image/gif">

Thanks
Enjoy with fevicon

Add, Edit or Delete Labels In Blogger / BlogSpot Blogs

Your blog must be having more than one labels or categories, and when a visitor visits your blog from search engines like Google or Yahoo, then most probably he/she will land on a specific page/post of your blog. And if the reader likes the post, he/she will definitely search for similar topics on the blog, and this is exactly where, labels and categories will help the visitor. But again, the number and names of the labels are very important.
May be, initially you would not have given enough importance to these labels. And now when you realized the importance, you may find tens and hundreds of posts in your blog with improper labels, which need to be edited, or you may even want to delete some of the labels you have already added, or you may want to add some new labels to your previous posts.
Blogger does help you to do this quite easily, but I still think that they should make it even more better !
Anyways here’s how you can edit, add or delete labels in Blogger.
Log in to Blogger, in the Posting section, click on Edit Posts.
See the highlighted regions in the image above.
As soon as you click on Edit posts, you will see all posts written by you (select posts per page as 300 in the right corner of the page).
1. Now to delete any label, click on “Select All“. Then in the drop down menu “Labels action“, under “Remove label” option you will see the list of all labels, click on the one, you want to remove for ever.
2. To add a label, select all the posts, you want to add the label. Then in the drop down menu “Labels action“, under “Apply label” option click on New label…. Finally enter the name of the new label.
3. And in case you want to edit a label, unfortunately there’s no direct option given by Blogger.
So do this, firstly in the list of labels column, present at the left side of the page, click on the label you want to edit. Now only those posts are displayed which have this label. Now add a temporary label to these posts. Then delete the label, you want to edit. Now click on the temporary label in the labels list. Now add the new label. Then finally delete the temporary label.
And finally display important labels as a link list in a widget, or display all the labels as a flash widget in your blog.

Building Blog Traffic

In my earlier posts, I have mainly written about search engine optimization , because it starts form choosing domain name , so new blogger can have benefit and bloggers who are already having blogs can optimize their new posts.

But search engine though a main source for traffic , it is not the only the source which a blogger should explore for traffic . There are many other sources for blog traffic and in this post we will discuss about that.

We will list those blog traffic sources with some explanation and list websites where you need to sign up. So I am trying to give information as What to do ? How to do it and where ( which websites) to do it , to make it easier for new and average bloggers. And they need not run here and there finding resources.

1)Blog Traffic Source #1 :
Blog directories
: You need to submit to few popular blog directories after you have at least 5- 10 posts on your blog. Most of the blog directories will ask you to give reciprocal link on your blog. In some cases you need to enter reciprocal link url , then you can create a new post for giving links to such directories rather than giving link on main page of the blog. If they ask for RSS feed please enter http://yourblog.blogspot.com/rss.xml. You also need to enter your keywords as Tags or generate tags . Some directories will ask for specific size banner , so design a banner using software like photoshop , upload it at free space like pages.google.com and provide the link of the banner to the blog directories. For example banner for this blog is at http://umeshsmiles.googlepages.com/blog-traffic.jpg.
Popular blog directories are listed below which allows free submission , please do not go for paid submission.

2) Blog Traffic Source #2 :
Comments, Emails, Profiles , chat , groups : You need to comment on other blogs , develop relations with bloggers . This leads to visits from this blogs and bloggers.
You can send at least 10 emails per day writing about your blog and requesting to visit .Please do not send bulk mails or spam mails. You can mention about your blog in your profiles at google, yahoo, myspace , facebook etc. and also in chats , groups . You can answer at websites like answers.yahoo.com for related questions mentioning about your blog.

3) Blog Traffic Source #3 :
Linking to other blogs: You can ask for link to your blog or post to other blogs and you also need to reciprocate by giving link to other blogs or posts. This leads to link building and more traffic . Link building is beneficial for search engine ranking.

4) Blog Traffic Source #4 :
Forums, discussions,community, groups : From the list of websites given below , on many of them you will find discussions , groups , forums, communities .You can join groups /communities or create new one .You can take part in discussions /forums . Ask for help or give help .This leads to more traffic to your blog.

5) Blog Traffic Source #5 :
Socializing : Digg.com:Socializing site.You can find more here - http://digg.com/about .
What all you can do at digg.com is at http://digg.com/how

StumbleUpon.com is a social network . You need to download and install a toolbar, then, when surfing the net, if you like a page and you want to share it with the community, you press a button (you stumble the page), and the page goes into the StumbleUpon circuit. On the toolbar, you also have the Stumble button, which, once pressed, shows you pages stumbled by other members.You can use stumble upon without toolbar also , once you have a account there.

6) Blog Traffic Source #6 :
Writing and submitting articles /posts / reviews : You can write articles for others / reviews for products or services . Please check websites like payperpost.com , reviewme.com

7) Blog Traffic Source #7 :
Converting new visitor to regular visitor -
Write better providing sufficient information on the subject with proper home work done. Group /Categorize / List /Organize the content properly so it becomes easier to read and understand . Add pictures and video where ever possible to make post colorful and attractive. Rather then writing longer, cover all information in less words because on internet , visitor wants more information in less time.Providing rewards, free e books ,contest etc - You can provide some type of reward to visitors /bloggers like link or few dollar prize for comments /review of your blog or have a contest on your blog . You can write a e-book yourself and offer to download it free or you can use free e-books available on internet . This encourages visitors to stay more , visit again , subscribe to your blog posts etc. Please note that buying and selling of links is against search engine guidelines/policies.

8) Blog Traffic Source #8 :
Branding , banners , free banner exchange - You can think of nice logo / banner /header picture for your blog with a slogan /punch line for it . You can use that logo on you posts , emails , profiles etc . As your blog grows and if related to business/products/service , you can go for brand name . While submitting your blog to directories ,some of them asks for banner so you can submit your banner here. There are free banner exchange programs run by blogs and blog directories , you can participate in that. I will try to provide list of websites for this.

9) Blog Traffic Source #9 :
Try other media : Think creative . Where else you can mention about your blog or display your blog . Some newspapers allows you to submit your post to them and they publish selected posts in their newspaper with blog name. So try sending your blog posts to print media.Can you display your blog url on your vehicle ? Your t-shirt?

10) Blog Traffic Source #10 :
Paid promotion : All the above options are free to use but you need to spend many hours on internet . So if you do not have time , you can go for paid blog advertising like google adwords and other paid promotions .Please do not buy links .Please keep good and sufficient content on your blog and basic blog promotion done before going for advertising .

11) Blog Traffic Source #11 :
Mobile blogging : Blogspot offers you to post using your mobile. Many socializing sites now offer mobile future , this saves on your time .So if you efficiently use this feature you can save time to be active more at other promotional activities which leads to more traffic.

Increase Blog traffic from Youtube

youtube trafficHow to get blog traffic from youtube? Uploading video to youtube is easy but what can we do to generate traffic to our blog from the video?

Here are important ideas and steps which helps to bring traffic from youtube video.

First I will list three basic steps and then will discuss each step in detail.

1) Create your own video
2) Register with youtube and Upload your video with correct title.
3) Incorporate and mention your blog url at appropriate places on youtube.

1) Now we will look at first step as what kind of video can be prepared?
You need something related to your blog subject. Website owners use youtube for marketing and selling their products with sales video but I am not talking of that.
We need video related to our blog subject. In general humorous video, how to video, some catchy dance and music video, amazing and interesting facts video, educational video etc. will catch attention and will get many views.
e.g. I can prepare video related to some of the posts on this blog as How to shift to custom domain,How to get blog traffic or How to make money from blog.
Many bloggers have personal blogs so they can have video on making some recipe, how to swim or some kitchen tips and tricks, funny video of their animal or pet, video of the places they have visited, video of sports they play or teaching or giving tips on some sports, video on party they have organized etc.

You can capture video using webcam, cellphone or handy cam or whichever is most suitable. Youtube accepts many file formats for video uploading so file format is not big issue but if you go for high quality video then file size is too large. So normal resolution is ok. Also read youtube help regarding this. Video file size also increases with the time so as far as possible keep video length from 5 minutes to 15 minutes.(for few subjects it can be longer). Picture and sound quality should be clear and if you know little of video editing it helps you to edit the video.

2) If you are not already registered, you need to register at youtube.com. After login you will find a yellow color Upload button on right hand corner. Then click on Upload video file. Then clicking on Upload video gives you a browse window to choose video from your computer hard disk and upload it. You also have to enter title, description,tags and category. And then click save. It takes some time for your video to go live. Since your video will appear in youtube search result based on video title and description, it is very important to choose correct post title and description. Hence do some research on youtube by searching related videos and enter the keywords you are looking for in your video title and description. Also enter your blog url in description.

3) Now you need to add your blog url in the video. Go to my video and then Annotations then click on Add note (see the image below) it gives you a window on the video asking "Enter your text here". Type your blog url here then you can change color if required , then holding mouse cursor you can drag it from center to one of the corner so that it does not come in the way of watching video.

blog traffic from youtube
Now you have to choose time period for which this will appear on video so you can select full time starting from 0.0 to full length of video. Now you have to click on save and publish.
Check your blog url is appearing on video or not.

You also need to enter your blog url in your profile. You need to go to Account > Profile setup > website. See the picture below.

blog traffic tip youtube
Now logout and search youtube with keyword you have mentioned in video title and see where you can find it in search results and watch the video. You can fine tune the video title and description if required for better ranking. Send emails to your friends giving url of video and asking them to watch the video and rate it. Getting few higher ratings creates good impression on visitors.

Your account at youtube also has insight and statistics option under My account where you can come to know from where visitors has come to watch your video.
So what are you waiting for ? Shoot a video and fire !

How To Tag Images in Blogger

Image Optimization TipsLearning the correct and proper way of Optimizing images in blogger or wordpress is a must. Google Image search is used widely for finding quality reference images, icons and photos. From web designers to normal surfers everyone looks for images that could be added to their profiles, desktop, blog posts, projects and etc.  A great percentage of our blog traffic depends on Image search. We add plenty of high quality images to each of our posts in order to catch readers attention but we don’t just add them we TAG them! Search robots can not read multimedia may it be graphic images or flash. An image is meaningless for search spiders if it is not defined(TAGGED). Lets discuss this important SEO lesson in detail.

What is image Tag?

A Tag is simple HTML code that tells search robots what the image is all about. It is the description of image. This Tag is different from the tags that you add to photos in Facebook. Here you must be selective with your choice of rich keywords. Following is an example of a simple image HTML Code:
<img src="IMAGE LINK" />
Adding this code any where in your templates will display an image. When robots scan your content they look for every detail and when they come across you image HTML code they do not recognize what the image is all about. It can't judge if it is an image on SEO Tips or Pizza Recipe. To let robots index each of your images you must add an alt Tag  This alt Tag was introduced by Google so that images could be well described, categorized and indexed. This Tag tells the robot about the purpose of the image. For Example:
<img src="IMAGE LINK" alt="SEO Tips" />
You can see in the above code that the yellow highlighted part tells Search engine spiders that the image being displayed is about "SEO Tips" You just need to add two-three short words to describe your image. Thus alt tag is basically a short HTML code i.e. alt="" and you add the description of image between the inverted commas.

What are Optimized Image Tags?

Just by adding a alt tag to your image code wont turn your image into an optimized one. You should keep the following tips in mind while writing description for your pictures, photos or any image:
  1. Keep Description limited to 4 words. Less is best
  2. Don't write full sentences to describe images. Instead of writing "Best SEO Tips to Optimize Images in Blogspot" Simply Tag it as "Image SEO Tips" or "Optimized Images" or "How To Optimize Images"
  3. Just like not every keyword should be added to Post titles, similarly not every keyword should be added to Image Tags. Brief, Precise and relevant tagged images always score high. Keep it simple as much as possible. Google is smart enough to attach related keywords to your image from your post content.
  4. Always Add an intro image to your posts. I always add an intro image at the start of every post and I tag it sensibly so that the image Tag may clearly synchronize with the post title. Use your best keywords in your intro images
  5. Do not tag images with senseless words. If the image is a screenshot of an installation process step for instance Photoshop. Then instead of writing as "Click settings" or "Click Next" give it a rich tag like "Photoshop Settings" or "Best Photoshop settings"
  6. Tag the image with normal English words and avoid use of special characters like %, $, #, @,&, -, _ etc.

How to add alt Tags To Blogger Images?

Whenever you add a photo to your post editor, always switch to "Edit HTML" mode and find the HTML code for the image which will look like this:
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgblUpeMAxB-yAfWqeiutMIR3ZayyarGBtLL6dpjmj2xL8bq7hnH8QAcNHZczszb_3YZoRO3gt4o0M_eQIKUlNqcDwyULMHmrfA0gnd25K8iNfneq1HqzSu1u_jYPM5gJbI3JFzbk36QB8/?imgmax=800" ><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgblUpeMAxB-yAfWqeiutMIR3ZayyarGBtLL6dpjmj2xL8bq7hnH8QAcNHZczszb_3YZoRO3gt4o0M_eQIKUlNqcDwyULMHmrfA0gnd25K8iNfneq1HqzSu1u_jYPM5gJbI3JFzbk36QB8/?imgmax=800" /></a>

I know it looks weird but you just need to identify the HTML code of the image which is the highlighted portion. Add the alt tag just after <img as shown below,
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgblUpeMAxB-yAfWqeiutMIR3ZayyarGBtLL6dpjmj2xL8bq7hnH8QAcNHZczszb_3YZoRO3gt4o0M_eQIKUlNqcDwyULMHmrfA0gnd25K8iNfneq1HqzSu1u_jYPM5gJbI3JFzbk36QB8/?imgmax=800" ><img alt="IMAGE DESCRIPTION" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgblUpeMAxB-yAfWqeiutMIR3ZayyarGBtLL6dpjmj2xL8bq7hnH8QAcNHZczszb_3YZoRO3gt4o0M_eQIKUlNqcDwyULMHmrfA0gnd25K8iNfneq1HqzSu1u_jYPM5gJbI3JFzbk36QB8/?imgmax=800" /></a>

This way you will turn your images into a traffic driving source and can expect fair amount of increase in daily visitors just by adopting the habit of Image Tagging

Read More How I use Google Chrome To Design Blogger Templates?

Google Chrome has excellent capability of allowing you to see how your design looks by adjusting the settings live. You can redesign or edit the style sheet of any website your wish using Chrome. While designing a template, one of the things that takes much time is alignment of objects on a div section. The margin and padding property can be a headache if you are not habitual with tools such as Chrome. I normally use MBT HTML Editor to design widgets but just few weeks ago I have started enjoying using chrome for my design projects. I will share some basics here that you can learn in order to better align and style elements on your blog. You can also investigate what CSS properties like font type and effects a site is using.  All this is done using the Developer Tool provided by Google Chrome. Which lets you to edit CSS, HTML and Scripts of any website online. I am sure you will enjoy this tutorial. Follow up.

Design a Menu Using Chrome

I hope you have downloaded Google chrome. If not then please Download it here.  Now open your blog or any site you wish to edit.
Take an example of our blog. Suppose I wish to redesign the look of my sub navigation menu
design menu using Chrome
I will browse the blog in Chrome and I will right click anywhere on the menu and choose "Inspect element"
inspect element

Choosing Inspect element will open a new window with two columns. The first column shows the main HTML of your blog and the right column displays the CSS styles applied to each div section.
Chrome Developer tools
As you move up or down your mouse cursor over the div tags in the HTML section you will see that area being clearly highlighted inside your blog. Since I clicked on sub navigation therefore the div section for sub navigation is highlighted by default in the html section and I can clearly see its CSS styles appearing at right under the CSS column. Here is the CSS styles for the navbar as shown in the CSS column:
#subnavbar {
  1. background: #0084CE;
  2. width: 960px;
  3. height: 24px;
  4. color: #55B4E7;
  5. border-bottom: 1px solid #EEE;
  6. margin: 0;
  7. padding: 0;
}

You can see we are provided with 7 different properties. We can change the background color of the menu, we can adjust its width and height, font color, border and alignment using margin and padding. To edit any property just double click and change it. Lets change the background to green:
Chrome Css stylesheet
I simply double clicked the background property and changed the color to #289728 from #0084ce. At the same time you can see it changing live on your blog too. See the screen shot below,
Chrome Developer settings
See its all fun! Lets now change all other properties and see how it looks on the blog. You can also click the black arrow next to div section to expand the sub properties for list style and links. See below,
Chrome Developer settings
Clicking on the ul tag will open its separate CSS properties on your right and clicking the li tag will open the list properties. You can then play around with the codes to see how the look changes on the blog and all these changes can be seen live on your blog as you edit without the need to log into your blog. Once your satisfied with the new settings just copy that CSS style and replace your current template style with it by logging into your blogger account.
The menu below was created using Chrome,
menu designed using Chrome
